About My Family

My name is Blake Fortner. I married my beautiful wife, Meagan, in 2005 after we met at Bible college. God has blessed us with four sons, Benjamin, Owen, Liam and Calvin. Our little girl, Wyllah, is due October 31, 2019. After serving as missionaries in Ethiopia, my wife and I are honored to be planting in my hometown of South Kansas City.

About My Church Plant

Having had the privilege of growing up in this multiethnic community and being a former missionary, my desire is that Three Trails Community will be a minority majority church that will make disciples of the nations. The school that we currently rent for our Sunday service, and where many of our launch team members' children attend, has more than 31 different nationalities. We desire for God will use our church to show how Jesus and His mission can provide unity in the midst of diversity.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at

That God will use Three Trails Community to build bridges to this diverse community so the nations can be discipled. That God will provide wisdom for the launch team in how we can demonstrate the unity we have in Christ. That God will provide the financial support of our two staff members (one is white and the other is African American) so we can show diversity in a concrete way.

Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
