About My Family

Dakota grew up in Rusk, Texas. She learned about Jesus in high school, but did not commit her life to Him during that time. Dakota decided to go to the University of Oklahoma (OU) and quickly met women who were a part of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM). They became fast friends. They showed her what it looked like to follow Jesus with everything, which changed Dakota's life forever. After committing her life to Jesus, Dakota participated in discipleship, training programs, and overseas trips that changed how she viewed the world, and helped her decide to serve with the BCM. Dakota graduated in May 2018 with a bachelor's degree in international and area studies and a master's degree in global economic development. Dakota also got married in May 2018 to Jigar, who is excited to serve as well!

About My Ministry

Dakota is serving as a collegiate missionary with the University of Oklahoma's Baptist Collegiate Ministry. The OU BCM is an extension of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. The mission statement of the BCM is to know, love and glorify God, and in dependence on Him, to develop multiplying disciples to reach the nations. With this goal in mind, Dakota will be working mostly with freshman students at the university. This year alone, OU welcomed more than 4,500 freshman students, most of whom do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Dakota gets the amazing opportunity to live life with some of these students and hopefully introduce them to the truth of Jesus. Dakota is excited for the opportunity to minister to these students alongside staff members who desire to see the gospel spread at OU and around the globe.

Support Dakota Desai

This contribution is made with the understanding that The North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, Inc. has complete discretion and control over the use of the donated funds.

Pray that I will trust God in every step of this process, namely in raising my personal support. Pray that I will be an effective minister of the gospel. Pray for the student leaders at the BCM to make meaningful connections with freshmen. Lastly, pray that many students at OU will either enter into a relationship with Jesus or continue growing in their understanding of Him.

Pray for me and my ministry to OU students. Give financially to what God is doing at the OU BCM. I'll be sending out a monthly newsletter detailing prayer requests and what's going on in my ministry. Sign up to receive those and hear more about what is going on at OU!
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant.
