About My Family

I am a bivocational pastor and I have worked for the City of Monroe for 18 years. The blue-collar job with which I have been blessed has really helped me to be more approachable in the multi-housing world to which God has called me. I married my wife, Lisa, at the young age of 18. This is not the classic, "We were best friends as kids and I married my high school sweetheart story." In spite of my own bad choices, God has blessed my wife and me with 33 years of marriage. We have experienced life seeing the truth of Romans 8:28 in our own lives: "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose." We saw clearly that the mistakes we made in our past and God's matchless grace would be the connecting point between lost people, our church plant and us. During these years God has allowed us to raise two daughters who faithfully serve at their churches, and He has blessed us with three wonderful grandchildren.

About My Church Plant

Our church plant exists in an area of multi-housing. Statistics show that 50 percent of the U.S. population lives in some form of multi-housing community, and 96 percent of them are lost or unchurched. With the need for a church plant clearly present, our strategy is to establish new churches from the small groups we begin at different complexes. We have established small groups at two locations averaging 20 attendees. As a church planting church, a natural strategy is to properly disciple believers. As some of these people eventually move, they will take the gospel and our Lord's command to spread it to a new location. These properly-trained followers will then plant other churches.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at namb.net/send-me.

That we would look for, recognize and create ways to share the gospel with everyone we meet as we obediently and prayerfully are guided by His Spirit. That we could reach men in the multi-housing areas. For receptive hearts among the people in communities where we serve. For wisdom as we plant a church and then for guidance as we try to be a church that plants churches.

We welcome missions teams to prayerwalk, host backyard Bible clubs, conduct block parties, pick up trash around the complexes and anything else that might improve our relationship with the apartment manager. Provide child care during our small groups. Become a core group member and help us launch Abundant Life Church. Connect as a Sending Church or a Supporting Church with our work. Commit to long-term missions support with Abundant Life Church. Pray for us.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant.
