About My Family

My name is Scott Ridenour, and I am the community outreach pastor at Fellowship Pickering in Pickering, Ontario, as well as the network liaison for the Fellowships Network. My wife, Naikia, and our three children (Aubrey, Lindsey and Connor) are from the southern United States. In April of 2011, we felt a strong call to move to Canada to start a church just outside Ottawa, Ontario, in a small town called Carleton Place. After six years of ministry there, we felt God calling us to a new season of life, and we joined with the team at Fellowship Pickering, just outside Toronto, in July of 2017. We have had quite an adjustment moving from the southern U.S. to the Great White North, but we all love living and serving here.

About My Church Plant

Fellowship Pickering (FP) launched in fall 2013 and has been faithfully serving the community of Pickering. Currently, FP has planted two other churches in the Durham region—Fellowship Rouge Park and Fellowship Oshawa—and we are about to plant a new church in Bowmanville, Ontario, very soon. We have been beyond blessed to have ample opportunity to share our faith practically and to let our community know that Jesus loves them in very real, tangible ways. As a church plant, we are focused on reaching those outside the church with the same life-changing and life-giving gospel that we experienced.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at namb.net/send-me.

Pray

We need prayer for wisdom, discernment and guidance as we serve the Lord and our community. We need prayer for finances and, particularly, for partnerships with other churches and individuals as we struggle to make ends meet as a missionary family. We ask for prayer for our current church body as well, to grow in Christ even more and live lives on mission for God. Above all, we praise the Lord for what He is doing here and for allowing us to be part of it!

Participate

We are always excited to have conversations with churches or individuals who are interested in exploring partnering in the areas of prayer, provision (financial commitment) and people (missions trips).
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant.
