About My Family

Janelle and I were raised in San Diego, Calif. We felt called to church planting in spring 2012. When asked where we would go, we said, "What about Connecticut?" It's a place we had an affinity for but had never visited. After that initial scouting trip in 2012, we knew Glastonbury was exactly where God wanted us. Over the next three years, we prayed and waited for the Lord to say go, taking trips each year and praying over the town. In summer 2015, the Lord said go, and we did. We packed up our family, sold all of our belongings, shipped one car and drove across the country with our van, three kids and four duffel bags.

We have three boys: Georgie (10), Kade (8), Nole Michael (5) and a yorkipoo named Rocky. We have been married 13 years, are avid NY Giants fans and love being part of what God is doing in Connecticut.

About My Church Plant

We planted The River Church (TRC) on October 15, 2016, in Glastonbury, Conn. TRC meets in a middle school on Saturday evenings, which currently serves our active community well. Our vision is to build communities who love Jesus and bring joy to others. Our church community is relational and embraces living life together. We host a co-ed, kid-friendly life group monthly and are preparing to launch a second group. We host monthly women's and men's life groups, which serve as Bible studies. We focus heavily on small group discipleship to live out Matthew 28 and to be a church of disciples who make disciples. The first series of groups are preparing to multiply into the next series of groups in 2019. Seeing the multiplication is exciting. God has opened the door for TRC to serve in various capacities to reach our community.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
