About My Family

My beautiful wife, Melissa, and I have been married for 10 years. We have three boys. Micah is 8, Judah is 6, and we've just finalized the adoption of Boaz, who is 11 months old!

We moved to Louisville, Ky., from Maui, Hawaii, in 2010 to attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I served as a pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville for a little more than four years before heading back to Maui in January 2018.

We launched Waiehu Community Church in January 2019 with the help of our Sending Church, Kahului Baptist. Follow along with us at waiehuchurch.org or on Facebook.

About My Church Plant

We long to see a biblical church planted in a community called Waiehu on Maui. This community is strategically located amidst the many unique cultural pockets represented in Maui. We hope to reach a community that is largely unengaged by a biblical church, but is inundated with prosperity gospel and Mormonism.

My partner in planting is Rocky Komatsu, who was born and raised in Maui. We've been praying for Maui for the past eight years, and we're eager to preach the gospel in Waiehu.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at namb.net/send-me.

Pray that the Lord would bring revival to Maui. Pray that Waiehu Community Church (WCC) would be supported well financially and that the church would become self-sustaining quickly. Pray for faithful laborers who desire to serve as faithful church members to join in the planting effort. Pray for a permanent place for WCC to meet. Pray for many to be saved in Waiehu and the surrounding communities. Pray for transformative discipleship, resulting in Ephesians 4 style community (Every Member Ministry). Pray that WCC would accurately reflect the demographic of its surrounding community.

Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant.
