About My Family

I was born in Suwon, South Korea, and immigrated to the United States in 1995 with my family. As an immigrant serving at Saddleback Church as a small groups pastor for all small groups who speak languages other than English, I became passionate about reaching out to people from all nations for Christ.

I am married to my beautiful wife, M.K., and we are raising two children: Tehillah (7) and Theodore (5). Since I love taking photos of my kids while kneeling on my right knee, most of my jeans have holes only on my right knee. I also love making coffee drinks. In fact, I might be practicing making latte art right now as you’re reading this.

My favorite Bible passages are Psalm 121, Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 15:13 and Revelation 7:9-10.

About My Church Plant

God used Saddleback Church in a wonderful way to bring me to Saddleback in 2005 as I was going through the most difficult time of my life. Saddleback built me up, trained me for ministry and sent me in 2019 to plant Overflowing Church. I began serving as an intern at Saddleback Church in 2013 and became a small groups pastor, overseeing small groups who speak 29 different languages.

I strongly believe that God is more interested in our availability to Him more than our ability. My family and I are walking this journey as a church planting family to reach more people for Christ. Currently, I'm working on a D.Min. in Growing and Multiplying Churches in North America at Talbot School of Theology, and I'm looking forward to seeing what God might be doing in and through our new church.

NAMB Church Planting

Millions in North America are in desperate need of hope. Ultimately, the only hope that’s going to last - in this life and the next - is the hope of the gospel. North American missionaries build relationships and share this hope in their communities and beyond.

Overflowing Community Church's vision is to overflow God's blessings to the community by fulfilling the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. In order to see what God is doing in and through us, we chose a coffee shop as a platform of the church to create an inviting, welcoming and safe environment for both believers and non-believers. We need research on looking into different models, financial support and people with whom to walk the journey. Please pray for our church as we're going to begin outreach ministries in the summer and build the core team of the church.
