About My Family

I am the lead planter/pastor of Sojourn Church in Portland. Prior to planting Sojourn I served on the directional team for the Table Network and spent a few years catalyzing church planting movements in South Asia with the International Mission Board. I am married to my beautiful Argentinean wife, Andrea, who serves as our ministry coordinator, and together we have three boys: Elliot, Liam and Oliver.

About My Church Plant

Sojourn is a new church forming in northeast Portland that focuses on three things: gospel, family and mission. We do this by extending an invitation to those around us—regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status or culture—to join us by experiencing the freedom and family at the table of Jesus. The message is clear that Jesus has come for all people, young and old, the displaced, those on the margins, people who've made a mess of their lives and those who are ordinary. Jesus has come for you.

At this table you will find a place to belong—a journey to be taken—where all things are being made new and united by Jesus. We hope that you consider joining us as we take this journey.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at

Pray for more seasoned laborers to join Sojourn. Specifically we are seeking another elder qualified leader and a worship leader. Pray for unity among our core team and church at large as we grow and get rooted further in our community. Pray for ongoing financial support so we can invest and stay here for the long haul in a city that is expensive and difficult to do ministry in.

Connect with us as a Supporting Church. Commit to long-term mission support with us. Be involved in supporting us by coming out to work alongside us for a week or send someone from your church to join us long-term. Pray for us.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
