About My Family
I met my wife, Lesley, while attending Auburn University, and some of our earliest conversations were on the topic of missions. We have been married for 13 years and have three children: Sophia, Caleb and Margaret. We moved to Brooklyn in 2008 after I finished my degree at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Having a background in marine biology, I secured a job teaching science in the New York City Department of Education, a position I hold to this day. In addition to my covocational role as pastor and teacher, I have also served as a chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve since 2017.
About My Church Plant
Cornerstone Church is located in Bay Ridge, a diverse neighborhood in the southwestern part of Brooklyn that is home to the historic U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton. Although Bay Ridge contains 70,000 residents, there are few evangelical churches ministering in the community. Cornerstone launched in 2011, and in seven years of ministry, our church has served the people of Bay Ridge, seen lives changed, planted a daughter church in a neighboring community, and has partnered with missionaries to make disciples and plant churches internationally. In everything, the people of Cornerstone Church seek to give glory to God by being disciples and disciple makers.
NAMB Church Planting
Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity.
