About My Ministry
In 1986 a deaf man visited Memorial Baptist Church in Sterling, Michigan. In response, we started a sign language class in 1987 and signed for three years but with no deaf people attending. In 1990 the first deaf people began to attend, and we provided interpreting at services and provided fellowship opportunities. The ministry has grown to the following: a monthly deaf fellowship dinner serving around 80 people and worship service ministry to deaf and blind people, weekly deaf Bible study classes and interpreted services, sign language class for deaf Iraqi refugees, a Bible interpretation study class, and several activities for deaf Chaldean refugees.
