About My Family

Lisa and I have been married since 1983 and have served together in ministry since 1984. After serving in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, moving to the Pacific Northwest has been quite a change—and we love it! We have two children. Emily is married to Matt, with grandsons Samuel and Calvin, and living in East Asia. Lucas is married to Kyla and is living in Kansas City, Mo.

Traveling on mission has enriched our ministry. Through ministry in India, Greece, Russia, Cuba and Eastern Europe, God has given us a love for cities, especially now for Seattle. Traveling, hiking, coffee shops, reading and relationships are among our interests.

About My Church Plant

Our vision: "A new New Testament church planted in downtown Seattle, rooted in the Word, and filled with people whose lives have been transformed by the gospel (Mark 5:15)." So, we go praying. By God's grace, we begin conversations that lead to authentic friendships, that lead to the gospel, that, in His time, lead to conversion, discipleship and faithful church membership. This has been our model since arriving in downtown Seattle October 26, 2016.

On December 2, 2018, 14 of us covenanted together to become City Center Baptist Church in downtown Seattle. It is our joy to gather each week, presently at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, to sing, pray, read Scripture and preach the Word. He is faithful!

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at

Pray for holiness of life and humility of heart. Pray that friendships will move to gospel conversations. Pray for supporters to continue until the church is self-sustaining.

Pray for authentic friendships to lead to the gospel. Connect as a long-term Supporting Church. Join us in downtown Seattle for prayerwalking and building relationships.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
