About My Family

Hi! I am Gene Collins, and I want to thank you for looking us up! Both my wife Amanda and I served in Lebanon, Mo., at First Baptist Church for more than 10 years before answering the call to plant a church that would share the "True Life" God intends for us in Saint Louis, Mo. After spending years climbing the corporate ladder, God re-defined my sense of purpose to simply live out the Great Commission. He gave my wife and me a heart and vision to reach young professionals and retirees to find their own true life.
Both Amanda and I were single teenage parents when we met in college. God began a redemptive work in our lives that we are now able to translate into our ministry. We were married in 2003 and began our search for a Savior. We now have four children.
Jacob and Saria (aka- The Bigs) both graduated high school this spring and are now pursuing their God-given goals. Jacob is attending Mid-Western Seminary in the fall while Saria begins a fresh start in Arizona after a season of prodigal living. Kellsie and Nati (aka- The Littles) consider themselves mini church planters and are looking forward to sharing Jesus in St. Louis. Kellsie is 12 and loves cheerleading, babies and, well, anything cute and cuddly! Nati is 10 and joined the family at age 7 after being adopted from Ethiopia. He loves soccer, Nerf guns and this thing called television! During their free time, you can find the Collins spending time in God's beautiful creation, whether mountains or beaches, they love it all.

About My Church Plant

True Life Community Church is centered around John 14:6: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Light.” For more than a year, our launch team has been working to build a foundation of believers with whom to grow our church plant. Through careful research and planning we have identified the need for highly relational ministry while building a counter-culture church environment. We want our community to adopt a life that is not found in the corporate rat race but instead in the true life God has for them. This is being done through engaging outreach events, weekly Bible studies and relationship building. Because of my background in corporate management and our partner Bob Burton (a NAMB catalyst), we are able to connect with both the professionals and retirees in our city. Our hope is to lead them through our discipleship process, which is to love, learn, lead. Individuals will learn to love God and others by attending church and a community group, then participate in a 10-week Bible study to learn God’s basic truths and finally use their God-given gifts to lead a community group with a missions focus.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at

For churches as they prepare to send out missionaries and chaplains to push back lostness in North America. For receptive hearts among the people in communities where these missionaries and chaplains will serve. For churches and individuals to partner with missionaries and chaplains, and to give of their time and talents. For the Father to send more workers into His harvest to join these missionaries.

Connect as a Sending Church or a Supporting Church with a missionary’s work. Commit to long-term missions support with your missionary partner. Be involved in supporting missionaries and their families. Pray for missionaries.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
