About My Family
My wife, Laura, and I have been married since 1995. We live on the campus of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and have four children.
About My Ministry
In 2017, I was commissioned as a Chaplain in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Currently, I am assigned to the 256th Combat Infantry Brigade Team. I served on staff in Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma and Texas for 13 years and taught at three institutions before my election to the faculty of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2013.
I hold an M.Div. and Ph.D. in theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. I serve as the McFarland Professor of Theology and Divisional Associate Dean for Theological & Historical Studies. I serve as a Bible study teacher at First Baptist Church New Orleans. Also, I have written, edited, or contributed to 11 books, including Christian Theology: Biblical, Historical, and Systematic (Baker Academic, 2022).

SBC Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy is a "frontline" ministry that is vital to the extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, correctional facilities, healthcare settings, public safety, disaster relief sites and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless, and advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ in hard to reach places.
