About My Family

My family sacrifices a lot while I am gone due to my tri-vocational status. I pastor a small church in Kansas, Maple Hill Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan.Then once a month I serve the Soldiers of Missouri in the Missouri Army National Guard as an SBC-endorsed Chaplain. During the regular work week, I drive a big-rig for FedEx over the road, so my family has had to learn to stay functional while I am away.

My oldest is in high school, while my youngest is three. My wife is able to stay at home to take care of most of the home necessities.

About My Ministry

At our HQ Training Site, we have one of the few chapel buildings onsite. The chapel was recently renovated and is in great shape, although the old organ needs to be replaced with a new keyboard. We have many Soldiers from all branches coming through our various training sites and facilities for all kinds of training purposes. I am able to facilitate a unit to use the chapel, if they have their own chaplain or am able to provide that service directly myself.

SBC Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, correctional facilities, healthcare settings, public safety, disaster relief sites, and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless, and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard-to-reach places.
The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain or counselor are established by their institution and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy or counseling ministry involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.

Pray

Pray God would use me mightily to bring Soldiers to Christ and that I would be faithful to preach the gospel. Pray for opportunities for gospel conversations to be had and that worship would go on unhindered. Pray for our country as wars and rumors of wars mount. Pray for my Soldiers who serve in harms way. Pray for divine protection and that God would provide for all of our needs. Pray God would strengthen my family relationships and that I would be the best husband and father I could be.

Participate

Connect as a Sending Church or a Supporting Church with God’s work in my unit. Pray God would provide our chapel with a new keyboard for use in worship. Share the need to raise up a new generation of Chaplains to send for tomorrow’s challenges.
NAMB does not provide compensation for SBC endorsed chaplains. However, a general fund is available to receive donations in support of the ministry and pastoral care to SBC endorsed chaplains. To donate, please visit Support Chaplaincy (missionaries.namb.net/projects/full/chaplaincy).
