About My Family

Originally from Colorado, the Pachecos have worked with university students at Colorado State University for the past four years. Cameron and Shanni will similarly be reaching college students, military personnel, singles and families in the San Diego State University area through their local church plant, Compass Church.

Shanni loves being mom to their 1-year-old son (Oliver), meeting ladies for coffee, writing and often beating Cameron in board games. They have been married for three years. Cameron has a deep conviction that university students will be the ones to reach the world for Christ. He loves playing music, watching movies, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

About My Church Plant

Compass Church is a church plant, reaching those around San Diego State University. With only 0.5% in College Area, which is a neighborhood in San Diego, being evangelical Christians, Compass's goal is to help people find and follow Jesus. My family and I desire to share the gospel and offer opportunities to respond to entering a relationship with Christ, then training them to live missionally as disciples of Jesus in their context.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at

For those in Compass Church as they prepare to send out fully engaged people to push back lostness in College Area, San Diego, North America and the world. For receptive hearts among the people in the communities where we will be serving. For the teachers, children and parents in Hardy Elementary School (where we worship on Sundays) to see Compass as a blessing to them. For the Father to send more workers into His harvest to join us.

Please prayerfully consider connecting as a Supporting Church with our work at Compass either by mobilizing teams to help throughout the year, financially supporting us monthly as we work to reach San Diego and becoming an intentional prayer partner. We are trusting God to provide so a lasting, eternal impact can be made through His church.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
