About My Family

I’m deaf and was born to deaf parents. My family’s—including my six brothers—first language is American Sign Language (ASL).

After being saved when I was 11 years old, I struggled as I read my Bible, trying to understand the English translation as a second language.

During my sophomore year of college at Northeastern State (NSU), a friend of mine and ASL professor named Jameie, invited me to Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM), since she would be interpreting the worship service. Around the same time, the Deaf Missions organization announced that they had completed the ASL translation (ASLV) of the Bible, which took them 38 years! Through those two experiences, I began to understand things I had never fully grasped before. It was like waking up in a new light. Because of this, I recommitted my life to Jesus on March 1, 2020.

About My Ministry

We have been able to set up a deaf ministry group with the BCM at NSU. This group was formed to ensure that no more deaf people go without access to the gospel. We teach and disciple whoever wants to learn how to share God’s Word in ASL.

My goal in this ministry is to provide accommodations for deaf people, such as full time access to ASL, interpreters at BCM events, doing Bible studies through ASLV and gathering capable workers for the harvest on missions trips (Luke 10:2).

I would like to see all BCMs in Oklahoma have a ministry to the Deaf that accommodates deaf young adults in our community.
