About My Family
I grew up in Tulsa, Okla., and returned to my hometown after completing my bachelor’s degree in social work at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., and a master’s degree in social work at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I am blessed to now live near both of my sisters and their husbands and my nephews.
I always have two or three books I am reading on my nightstand, usually about heroes of our faith like Dorothy Day, George Muller or Shane Claiborne. Walking around my neighborhood or Lafortune Park helps to renew my mind and body.
Moses is my rescue cat. Whenever I pray out loud for those Jesus puts on my heart he likes to jump onto my lap and listen.

About My Ministry
Isaiah 58 describes some of the core values of social work. Free those who are wrongly imprisoned. Lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free. Remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry. Give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors. Do not hide from relatives who need your help. Rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities.
Isaiah 58, In His Service, Inc., became a 501(c)3 ministry in 2010. We provide the tangible in order to build relationships and introduce people to Jesus. We do that through compassion. “Compassion means to suffer with another person. The word has a strong personal element. It means to get down where they are in the midst of their need, it is painful sympathy” (Love 2020).
