About My Family
DK was born in Texas. He and his family moved to northern Alberta, Canada, where they planted the Worsley Baptist Church in August 1957. DK’s dad was a bivocational lay church planter. Becoming accustomed to the winter weather (down to -60 degrees Fahrenheit), living with seven people in a 308-square-foot log house with no electricity, no running water, a wood stove to cook and heat with, hauling water from a creek in the summer, melting snow in the winter and using an outdoor toilet was no small feat! The log house burned one winter night in February 1958. Brenda (Seidler) Hale was born in Fairview, Alberta, and lived in Hines Creek until she and DK were married in 1965. The Hales have two married daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter. DK refers to Brenda as his “Gift Directly from God.”
About My Ministry
In August 1969, DK and Brenda surrendered their lives to the call of God to serve in the arena of public ministry. During the next 47 years the Lord would lead the Hales on an exciting, rewarding and sometimes very challenging ministry journey. DK served as a volunteer assistant pastor in Worsley, Alberta; a bivocational pastor in Terrace, B.C.; a pastor in Edmonton, Alberta, and later Fairview, Alberta; an associational director of missions (ADOM) in Saskatchewan; and as a provincial church planting catalyst for Alberta, under the then Canadian Convention of Southern Baptists (CCSB). Then after beginning and leading the national partnership/volunteer ministries for the CCSB, the convention's national executive director chose DK to serve as the associate executive director until DK’s resignation in May 2008. At that time the Hales became missionaries with the North American Mission Board. DK and Brenda are currently serving as regional missionaries for the Midwest Baptist Association, whose territory is Alberta, Northwest Territories and Yukon—some 961,000 square miles—with over 60 churches and church plants. Thank you for your love, prayers and partnership. You are our partners in ministry under the lordship of Jesus Christ!
