About My Family

On November 16, 2016, my wife, Maria, our daughter, Miryam, and I left our home in Venezuela to visit a family member in Canada who had cancer. In Canada, we soon found out God had further plans for us, as we received an invitation to plant a church.

Maria is a family doctor, loves reading books and listening to music. I have a bachelor’s degree in law and love outdoor expeditions. I also like amateur radio, mostly DXing on 2M. Miryam was born in 2005. Like her mom, she enjoys reading and loves to draw and paint.

Maria and I got married at our local church in 2001. Shortly after, we received a call to serve God through His grace in different areas of ministry. After praying as a family, we obeyed and followed God’s plans in our lives to continue to be on His mission and to be part of what He is doing here in Canada for His glory!

About My Church Plant

Toronto is one of the largest multicultural cities in North America. Residents speak more than 140 languages and dialects and, remarkably, more than half of the population are immigrants from all over the world who have settled in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), making it one of the world’s most diverse places to live and work.

According to the Durham region census published in 2016, there is a population of 645,862 in Oshawa, which is located on the east side of Toronto, where more than 7 percent of the dwellers are Spanish speakers and most nonbelievers.

We are reaching out mostly to those who live on the east side of this region through Faith Emmanuel Baptist Church, a multicultural and multiethnic Hispanic church plant serving the community where we exist, around and beyond, sharing the good news of salvation found in Jesus.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at namb.net/send-me.

Pray

For churches as they prepare to send out missionaries and chaplains to push back lostness in North America. For receptive hearts among the people in communities where missionaries and chaplains will serve. For churches and individuals to partner with missionaries and chaplains and to give of their time and talents. For the Father to send more workers into His harvest to join missionaries.

Participate

Connect as a Sending Church or a Supporting Church with a missionary’s work. Commit to long-term missions support with your missionary partner. Be involved in supporting missionaries and their families. Pray for missionaries.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant.
