About My Family

I was born and raised in Idaho and came to trust Jesus Christ as my Savior at 10 years old during camp. After my high school graduation, I worked in and around farming until January 1983, when I went to Faith Baptist Bible College. I graduated in May 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies. My wife (1986, B.S. Art Education, Grace College, Winona Lake, Ind.) and I were married three weeks after college graduation. We moved to Winona Lake, and I received my MDiv from Grace in 1989. I served as an associate pastor and solo pastor for 20 years. In 2010, I began my CPE. I have served in hospital chaplain ministry since that time.

We have four adult children. The three oldest, their spouses, and six grandchildren live in Quincy, Ill. Our youngest daughter is single, lives in Rochester, Minn., and serves as a physical therapist.

About My Ministry

I am an SBC-endorsed hospital chaplain. My first hospital chaplain experience was in 2010 in Omaha, Neb., during five units of CPE. I have continued to learn and serve in mainly three hospital systems (Quincy, Ill.; Springfield, Mo., and Hannibal, Mo.) since that time.

It is always a privilege to be asked to serve as pulpit supply. I have served as an interim pastor on two occasions and as an interim chaplain at a veterans home. My wife and I are active members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal, Mo. She serves in the nursery and the worship team. It is my privilege to serve on the missions team of the church.

SBC Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, healthcare settings, correctional facilities, public safety, disaster relief sites, and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless, and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard-to-reach places.

The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain or counselor are established by their institution and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy or counseling ministry involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.

Pray

Pray that I may be faithful each day in the small routine tasks the Lord provides. Pray the Lord will provide the strength and wisdom for me to accomplish His daily desire. Pray for the Lord to bless and protect our family, keeping us faithful to Him in all things.
