About My Family

I was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. I was raised in both Puerto Rico and the United States. My father was a pastor in the state of Texas.

After a great tragedy occurred on my mother's side of the family, my parents decided to return to the island. By God's grace, after my father retired from ministry, God placed in me in me a desire and longing for His Word. In God's providence, I connected with people who discipled me and, through the work of the Spirit in my heart, I sensed a calling to the ministry. I want to preach the gospel to those who do not know Christ.

About My Church Plant

Currently I am one of the pastors at Iglesia Bautista Ciudad de Dios in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I am married to Denisse Candelaria, who is currently an administrative assistant at the Convención de Iglesias Bautistas del Sur de Puerto Rico. We have a beautiful 4-month old baby named Abigail.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at namb.net/send-me.

Pray

Pray God will send new, potential members to the church. Pray God will give us wisdom in raising Abigail. Pray God will give us more opportunities for evangelism. Pray God will send more laborers to Puerto Rico.

Participate

We are always looking for churches to partner with us and other church planters in Puerto Rico. Partnership involves financial giving, praying and sending teams to serve on the island.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant. Visit sendnetwork.com/PlanterFunding for NAMB's policy on providing for church plants.
