About My Family

I am Hugo. I grew up in Hong Kong and spent seven years studying and living in Taiwan. After retiring from my engineering career, I responded to God’s call to pastoral ministry and church planting. I now serve in partnership with Valley Life Tramonto Church to plant a Mandarin-speaking church in North Phoenix, Arizona, where God is opening a new mission field among Chinese engineers and families moving to the area.

My wife, Yvonne, and I are blessed with four children and a granddaughter. We serve together as partners in ministry, sharing a heart for discipleship, hospitality, and building a Christ-centered community. We are passionate about helping people know Jesus, grow in faith, and live out the gospel, with a vision to see a thriving Mandarin-speaking church that multiplies and reaches other communities.

About My Church Plant

God has called me to develop a Mandarin-speaking ministry in North Phoenix in partnership with Valley Life Tramonto Church. We focus on reaching Mandarin-speaking individuals and families through evangelism, Bible studies, and intentional discipleship.

Our ministry creates welcoming spaces for newcomers through ESL, cooking, and activity classes, helping build relationships and meet practical needs while opening doors for the gospel. These gatherings provide opportunities for connection, cultural exchange, and meaningful conversations about faith.

We are committed to equipping believers, raising up leaders, and building a healthy church foundation. Our vision is to see a thriving Mandarin-speaking congregation established that will multiply and extend the gospel to other communities.

NAMB Church Planting

Millions living in North America have not been reached with the gospel. But a new church makes change possible in an unreached neighborhood.
Send Network church planters immerse themselves in a community, learning the rhythms and culture as they establish relationships with the lost. A church plant grows out of the evangelism efforts of the planter and his core team.

Pray

Please pray for God’s wisdom and guidance as we develop the Mandarin-speaking ministry in North Phoenix. Pray for open hearts among Mandarin-speaking individuals and families, and that Bible studies, ESL classes, and community gatherings would lead to gospel conversations. Pray for strength, unity, and protection for our family as we serve. Ask God to provide needed resources and raise up faithful co-workers and leaders. Pray we would stand firm in testing and temptation, remembering Christ is our strength in every step of faith, and that He would establish a healthy, multiplying gospel-centered church for His glory.

Participate

Relationships are built with the church planter, team members, and their families. Notes of encouragement are sent, and connection is maintained through prayer and friendship. Birthdays and anniversaries are learned so they can be celebrated with gifts and cards, helping to strengthen care, unity, and gospel partnership in the ministry.
Learn the church plant, its strategy and context, so you can provide relevant resources. Support a church planter financially.
