About My Family

By God’s grace, I am in my 11th year of the pastorate and chaplaincy. The first several years of ministry were as a single man until that gloriously changed on October 2, 2021, when I married Courtney Avery. She is a teacher and coach at a thriving Christian school and the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman.

We are excited to embark on this chapter of our lives and look forward to a lifetime of serving the Lord together. In His perfect will and timing, we pray to someday have children who will grow to love and serve the Lord. For now, we have two pups, a Labradoodle named Lily and a Maltipoo named Mia.

Life, ministry and marriage have not been without challenges, but God is absolutely faithful. We are blessed and thankful to serve.

About My Ministry

I am an SBC-endorsed police chaplain, which gives me the opportunity to extend my ministry to the public service sector for which I have a special passion and calling. Moreover, God has granted me the privilege to serve as pastor of Social Springs Baptist Church in northern, rural Red River Parish, La., since May 2013.

This local body of believers has faithfully served the community and the world for more than 140 years and has a rich missional legacy. Today, we have a global missions team who serves in individual and team capacities both locally and abroad. Our church motto is “Every Member a Missionary” and our commitment is to be #allaboutJesus.

I am blessed to have studied at Leavell College of NOBTS, as well as Liberty University Online. I serve as department chaplain and as a 911 operator for Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office.

SBC Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, correctional facilities, healthcare settings, public safety, disaster relief sites, and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless, and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard-to-reach places.
The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain or counselor are established by their institution and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy or counseling ministry involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.

Pray

Pray we would have wisdom and guidance to remain in the center of God’s will. Pray God will grant health and provision to serve. Pray for churches as they prepare to send out missionaries and chaplains to push back lostness in North America. Pray the people in the communities in which we serve would have hearts that are open to the gospel. Pray churches and individuals will partner with us and give of their time, talents and resources. Pray our heavenly Father will send more workers into His harvest to join us in this work.
