About My Family

Both Jessica and I have lived in Montana our whole lives. We have seven kids (ages 5–16) in our home whom we love. We started the foster care journey about four years ago and have been blessed to adopt two of our kids.

Jessica has started substitute teaching at the school—now that all of our kids are there—and she also does a tremendous amount of work for the church. I still work full time as a supervisor at a local refinery. I love being outdoors with our family, going to the lake, hiking, hunting or just playing around by our house.

Jessica and I loving spending time together and with our kids, no matter the activity. In a typical week, you may find us at home for a “lazy night” watching movies together, at the school watching and cheering our kids on in their activities or out hunting on public land by our house.

About My Church Plant

Refuge Church launched public services January 10, 2021. We are located in Joliet, Mont., which has a population of 650 people within the town and 2,300 people who would call Joliet home. Joliet is known as a bedroom community and includes people driving from 30 minutes away for church.

Refuge has a heart to glorify God and love others. When we do this, we will see disciples made, not just converts. Our desire is to reach the lost and bring other Christian families from our area back to biblical community where they live. We are striving to build a strong church family who loves each other and our community well, as we proclaim Christ to the people with whom we interact every day. We have worked intentionally to start ministries that meet needs specific to our community, like kids, youth, moms and outreach (1 John 4:19).

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at namb.net/send-me.

Pray

Pray we can push back lostness in Joliet and the surrounding area while building disciples who engage locally and sending those who are called elsewhere. Pray the people in our area will be open to the gospel and real relationship with God, not just an understanding of who God is. Pray our church family will grow in relationship with one another and will utilize the gifts God has given us individually and corporately, not for Refuge Church but for His glory! Pray we will stay focused on the mission at hand and show people truth and grace in love.

Participate

Connect as a Supporting Church to help us reach Joliet. Commit to long-term support with us as missionary partner. Pray for Joliet, our church family and us as we continue to glorify God and love others.
Many missionaries build a team to join their ministry in prayer, participation, and provision. These friends, family and churches support missionaries beyond the tithes and offerings given within the church plant.
