About My Family

After meeting at the University of Wisconsin, Beth and I were married in 1980. We have two grown daughters and eight grandchildren. We have served on Navigator staff (1985–87 at Northern Illinois University), managed a small business in Clearwater, Fla., (1987–93) and then planted Hope Community Church in Schaumburg, Ill.

After ministering at Hope for 22 years, we moved to Fort Wayne where I served as a hospice chaplain for four years. While serving as a hospice chaplain, I had the opportunity to work in various assisted living facilities, one being Park Place Senior Living, where God has called us to plant the church.

About My Church Plant

Our vision is to plant a sustainable church inside Park Place Senior Living that will serve as a model for other church planters and encourage a “baby-boom” of church plants in similar facilities across America. After serving seniors as a hospice chaplain for four years, I became acutely aware of the fact that those moving into assisted living facilities are often moving away from a spiritual support and care that fostered their strong faith. Without these, those in their twilight years often feel alone and disconnected from the Lord. God is calling us to minister to these isolated and forgotten people, coming alongside and connecting believers and reminding them that they still have a vital role to play in God’s kingdom, not only by encouraging future generations, but also in sharing Jesus with their neighbors.

NAMB Church Planting

Millions in North America are in desperate need of hope. Ultimately, the only hope that’s going to last - in this life and the next - is the hope of the gospel. North American missionaries build relationships and share this hope in their communities and beyond.

Pray

Pray that I, as the pastor, will rely more on the Holy Spirit and less on my skills and/or relational abilities. Pray that Park Place Community Church will become a viable and sustainable church. Pray believers will be strengthened and encouraged and that many who do not yet know Jesus will be drawn toward Him and believe! Pray that this idea of planting churches in secular senior facilities will catch on and that church planters across America will turn their attention to this forgotten and hidden people group. Pray the families of the residents, people living in the vicinity of Park Place and others who hear about this church will make this church their home.

Participate

Join us! We would love to meet people who would be willing to invest their time, expertise and/or finances to help support this church or similar church plants. Promote Park Place Community Church to other churches that will either support us, plant a similar church or simply take an active role in supporting widows/seniors in their community. This includes encouraging other church planters to reach out to this forgotten people group.
