About My Family

I am from Birmingham, Ala., and attended the University of Alabama for my undergraduate degree and then Luther Rice Seminary. Before planting churches, I spent 12 years serving in vocational ministry as a worship pastor.

In 2015, I married Lacy, a biblical counselor who loves hosting people in our home. We have one daughter and love spending time outside in the Colorado outdoors as a family.

After our wedding, we honeymooned in Denver and both fell in love with the city and its people. Neither of us could shake the call to serve the people of Denver. In 2020, we finally moved to the city to plant The Local Church in Arvada. Our prayer is that God would use us to be light and Christ’s love to the people of the Olde Town Arvada area and to everyone they meet throughout their lives.

About My Church Plant

Our ministry is to engage the city of Arvada, make disciples and plant a Jesus-centered, multiplying church. Put simply, we want to plant a local church for local people with a local mission.

We believe the most strategic way of impacting the world is to start within your local context. This is how we came to name our church, The Local Church.

NAMB Church Planting

Millions living in North America have not been reached with the gospel. But a new church makes change possible in an unreached neighborhood.
Send Network church planters immerse themselves in a community, learning the rhythms and culture as they establish relationships with the lost. A church plant grows out of the evangelism efforts of the planter and his core team.

Pray for the planter’s family as they work together in ministry. Pray the church will be established and will faithfully work to plant in other communities, too. Pray the Lord brings leaders who can help within the church. Pray for stamina and longevity for ministry amidst attacks from the enemy. Pray for a ministry partner for Justin and The Local Church. Pray for a local home/space to open up for small gatherings to begin. Pray the McKays build rapport and have favor with city leaders and officials.

Build relationships with a church planter, team members and their families. Serve on short term mission trips. Trips can happen in all four seasons and for all age groups. Trips range from supporting outreach events, sport camps, and evangelism to hands-on projects. Trust us with your college students for a summer internship of ministry experience. Send notes of encouragement. Learn birthdays and anniversaries, so you can send gifts and cards.
Learn the church plant, its strategy and context, so you can provide relevant resources. Support a church planter financially.
