About My Family

I am a former Marine who, after 13 years of service, resigned my commission to serve a faith-based organization serving in closed and hazardous locations around the world. In 2013, I accepted a call to be an executive pastor in San Diego and connected with California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (CSBDR), where I also served as a San Diego Police Chaplain. In 2023, the executive board elected me as the CSBDR director.

I have a Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia, and am currently pursuing my D.Min. through Gateway Seminary. My high-school sweetheart, Melissa, and I married in 2001. We have three children—Isaac, Selah, and Max.

About My Ministry

I am an SBC-endorsed disaster relief chaplain with CSBDR. I strive to demonstrate the love of Christ to those affected by disaster. We partner with local churches to provide help, hope, and healing to those affected by disaster and to see lives and communities changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this through:

Partnership: CSBC Disaster Relief seeks to partner with churches to be prepared for and minister during times of crisis.

Training: CSBC Disaster Relief offers training for volunteers seeking to deploy with an SBC Disaster Relief Team.

Response: CSBC Disaster Relief responds by deploying appropriate teams of trained volunteers to disaster sites first in California and Nevada, then throughout the nation. Through international partnerships, teams may travel around the globe to assist in times of catastrophic disasters.

SBC Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, healthcare settings, correctional facilities, public safety, disaster relief sites, and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless, and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard-to-reach places.

The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain or counselor are established by their institution and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy or counseling ministry involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.

Pray

Pray for churches as they prepare to send out missionaries and chaplains to push back lostness in North America. Pray for receptive hearts among the people in communities where missionaries and chaplains will serve. Pray that churches and individuals will partner with missionaries and chaplains and give of their time and talents. Pray the Father will send more workers into His harvest to join these missionaries.
