About My Family
My wife, Rachel, and I, along with our three children, moved from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to the greater Portland, Oregon, area to help plant churches in 2002, having already fallen in love with the area after visiting family for vacations in previous years. Our hearts ache at how spiritually lost this region is.
Our kids are grown. We are blessed with three wonderful grandkids. We have been involved in several church plants since moving here to Sandy, Oregon, in the foothills of beautiful Mount Hood.
When I make time for it, I love to get out my kayak on Trillium Lake, the Clackamas River, and a few more places. Rachel and I love road trips, whether to the incredible Oregon Coast, to see family in Idaho, or just to take a road we’ve never driven before and explore the stunning natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

About My Ministry
I am an SBC-endorsed fire and disaster relief chaplain. I have been serving as the Clackamas Fire Chaplain since 2013 and as a chaplain for Disaster Relief (DR) since 2011, helping first responders and trauma survivors find God-given strength in their darkest moments. I also serve as an interim DR coordinator for Region 3 within the Northwest Baptist Convention.
I served as a 911 dispatch chaplain for seven years.
With 100+ hours of CISM training through ICISF, I am a Master Chaplain and Level III Instructor with the Federation of Fire Chaplains, and I love training new chaplains. I’ve also served as an officer with the Clackamas Volunteer Firefighter Association, earning three Support Volunteer of the Year awards.

SBC Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, healthcare settings, correctional facilities, public safety, disaster relief sites, and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless, and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard-to-reach places.
The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain or counselor are established by their institution and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy or counseling ministry involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.
