About My Family

I am Lal Thang (Ezra), a wretched sinner saved by grace alone in Christ alone in 2005 and set apart and called to the gospel ministry. My wife, Bawi Kim (Rebecca), and I have been married since 2015. We both were born and raised in Myanmar. We have two children. Joshua turned 9 in December 2024, and Amy turned 18 months in December 2024. We are expecting our third child right now in August 2025.

In 2021, My family and I came to Louisville, Ky., to study God’s Word at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am graduating an MDiv in May 2025. In June 2024 after we changed our visa status, our family finally moved to Charlotte, N.C. as a new church planter.

About My Church Plant

I have been in full-time ministry since 2013 in various roles. Since 2021, I was traveling to many different Burmese immigrant churches in U.S. to preach and teach in summer. Very sadly, I see so many nominal Christians in churches and many churches that are liberal and dying. Then, the Lord gave in my heart a burden for them. With much prayer and advice from my pastor and some trusted mentors, I felt called to church planting ministry among Chin-Burmese immigrants while pursuing my theological study in seminary.

So in October 2024, we started Charlotte Grace Evangelical Church in Charlotte, N.C. Now (2025), we have about 60–70 regular attendees, including the infants, every week. We have Saturday prayer meeting and youth Bible study every Friday at our house. This year my wife and I will start a women’s Bible study once a month.

NAMB Church Planting

Millions in North America are in desperate need of hope. Ultimately, the only hope that’s going to last - in this life and the next - is the hope of the gospel. North American missionaries build relationships and share this hope in their communities and beyond.

Pray

1. Pray for boldness and clarity to share the gospel and open hearts among the people we speak to. 2. Pray for the salvation of some of our church attendees because many are not yet born again. Pray that through this ministry, more people will come to saving faith. 3. Pray for us so that we can establish a biblical and healthy church, committed to evangelism and mission. 4. Pray for stamina, faithfulness and longevity in ministry amidst attacks from the enemy.
