About My Family

I am Captain Matt Belanger, an SBC-endorsed USAF Reservist Chaplain with the 96th Test Wing at Eglin AFB. My life is dedicated to serving both my country and community, balancing military duties with family life.

Married with four children, we engage actively in church and local outreach. My role is to provide spiritual support and counseling to enhance the wellbeing of our service members. My family’s support and understanding enrich my ability to serve with compassion and commitment.

About My Ministry

As a USAF Reservist Chaplain, my ministry is dedicated to meeting the spiritual and emotional needs of service members and their families. I conduct regular services, offer counseling and lead morale-boosting events at the 96th Test Wing. My approach blends traditional pastoral care with innovative programs that address the unique challenges of military life. I am committed to fostering a supportive and resilient community through faith-based guidance and compassionate outreach.

I actively participate in shaping a resilient Air Force community by leading spiritual services, providing counseling and organizing events that boost morale. My involvement extends to fostering connections through faith, enhancing teamwork and upholding our core values of integrity and excellence.

SBC Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, correctional facilities, healthcare settings, public safety, disaster relief sites and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard to reach places.
The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain are established by the using agency and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.

Pray

I request prayers for personal growth, wisdom, and strength as I serve our community. Please also pray for our Air Force members to uphold the Creed, embodying integrity, service before self and excellence in all we do. May each member be inspired to fully commit to our mission, vision and the noble defense of our nation with unwavering honor and courage. Let us seek to strengthen our bonds, enhance our resolve and deepen our dedication to the Air Force Creed. May this spirit guide us in all our endeavors as we strive to serve with valor and distinction.
