About My Family

I, Philip Tran, was raised in a Christian family and immigrated to Vancouver from Vietnam in 1975. My wife, Tien Le, and have three children: Joshua, Esther and Samuel. God called me to attend seminary and be involved in ministry as a youth pastor and church planter. I was called to plant several churches in Vancouver, Surrey, Nanaimo and Victoria. I am currently serving as planter and pastor of Vietnamese Baptist Linh An Church. My vision is mission and to plant churches. God called me to plant churches and to seek people who left church and try to help them to connect with God again. I am trying to reach out to Vietnamese communities.

About My Church Plant

I am always looking for any opportunity to plant churches and to proclaim the gospel. My vision is mission and reaching out to people to teach them about God. I planted Vietnamese Baptist Linh An Church five years ago. It started with a home Bible study.
Last year, I started a Bible study group in Victoria with the intention of it becoming a church in the near future. Once a month I go to Victoria to help that Vietnamese group get to know God better. I also go to a correctional center in Fraser Valley, British Columbia, to preach to inmates about God. In the past eight years, more than 500 people (all different nationalities) have become believers.

NAMB Church Planting

Demonstrated Christian character is essential for missionaries and chaplains to gain credibility and build community. A missionary is a person who, in response to God's call and gifting, leaves his or her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic or other barriers to proclaim the gospel and live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission. The North American Mission Board supports missionaries serving across the United States, Canada and their territories. Churches are the missionary incubators and sending centers for missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Missionaries serve in a variety of settings and face tremendous challenges. But the rewards are tremendous and life-changing. Missionaries have the privilege to represent their church and their Father in sharing the gospel as the primary focus of their activity. If you are interested in pursuing next steps as a potential missionary or chaplain from your church, explore the possibilities at
