About My Family

My name is Sam John, and I'm from Bangalore, India. I am married to Bibby. We have three wonderful children: Seth, Shekinah and Sinai.

I've worked and lived in Bangalore, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Kingdom and now Toronto. I was raised as a third-generation preacher's child, but had no desire to start a church.

In 2014, Bibby and I arrived in Canada as skilled permanent residents. I have an MBA, a master's degree in commerce and a Scrum Master certification. I have worked for IBM, TESCO, BMO and RBC and as a financial advisor with Canadian banks. Bibby is a licensed physiotherapist.

While still settling in Toronto, God placed a burden for people on our hearts. After three years of prayer and fasting, we planted a church in Etobicoke. And the rest is His story!

About My Church Plant

We call ourselves Church Underground, which reflects two aspects of the word "Underground."

The churches in Saudi Arabia my dad planted were underground churches meeting in our homes. This helped me understand the power of a movement. In 2002, I got involved in evangelism with my Christian metal band in the Underground Metal scene in India. Today we are active in the Underground Metal scene in Toronto and Ontario as the only Christian metal band in Ontario, Canada.

God impressed the word "Underground" upon me to reflect a movement for toward reaching the unreached people from untapped subcultures. We reach people in prisons, Metal Clubs, pubs, followers of Islam and Hinduism and immigrants.

We are developing Christian leaders who have a similar heart for church planting, by creating a network of church plants in southern Ontario.

NAMB Church Planting

Millions living in North America have not been reached with the gospel. But a new church makes change possible in an unreached neighborhood.
Send Network church planters immerse themselves in a community, learning the rhythms and culture as they establish relationships with the lost. A church plant grows out of the evangelism efforts of the planter and his core team.

Pray

Pray for my planter’s family as we work together in ministry. Pray the church will faithfully work to plant in other cities/towns, such as Hamilton, Kitchener, Sarnia and Whitby. Pray for stamina and longevity for ministry amidst attacks from the enemy.
