About My Family
I grew up in the state of Florida where my extended family still resides. My mother and I, in my teenage years, went on several missions trips to Jamaica through the Foreign Mission Board (now the International Mission Board) of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Currently, I am a resident of the Citrus County, Fla. Prior to living in this area, I lived in Mount Airy, N.C., Home of the famous, Andy Griffith. I have also lived in Virginia at different localities where I ministered in different areas of ministry.
I attended and completed my bachelor’s degree with a major in religion and a minor in psychology at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss. I completed my seminary education at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va.

About My Ministry
Currently, I am serving as an SBC-endorsed chaplain with Vitas Health and Hospice. I have been involved in hospice chaplaincy for more than 22 years. I have also ministered through the developmental disabilities ministry at the Virginia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services in Virginia for four and a half years and served as a minister of youth, children and music in various churches throughout the Southeast.
SBC Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy is a vital frontline ministry and extension of the local church. Chaplains reach the lost among the thousands of men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, correctional facilities, healthcare settings, public safety, disaster relief sites and corporate environments. SBC Chaplains care for the broken, offer hope to the hopeless and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in hard to reach places.
The qualifications expected of a Southern Baptist applying for endorsement as a chaplain or counselor are established by the using agency and the Chaplains Commission, SBC. These qualification requirements vary according to the type of chaplaincy or counseling ministry involved but all are expected to meet a high level of ministerial competence.
