About My Family

I am Welton Bonner. In 2009, Jesus saved me from a life of rebellion while in jail, and knowing Him is my greatest honor. I married Kacie seven years ago, which is my second greatest honor, and the Lord granted us four children—Elijah, Torah, Moses and Eden.

We live and serve in Washington, D.C., where I was born. My utmost desire is that my family and I will delight in Jesus as our greatest treasure and be a visible demonstration of Christ and His church, the family of God. God has called me to lead the formation of Eastside Community Church (ECC) in D.C., and my family has graciously and courageously committed to this work with me. Thank you for partnering with us in prayer, participation and provision.

About My Ministry

Many are unaware that D.C. is more than politics and historical buildings. It’s home to thousands of families, its own native music genre, culture and history apart from the White House. Yet, it is also a city riddled with violence, poverty, displacement and broken promises with much of this suffering relegated east of the Anacostia River, which is where we are planting.

Our mission is to “raise the DEAD to LIFE in union with Christ east of the river and to the ends of the earth.” By DEAD we mean Disobedient, Empty, Aimless and Destructive. By LIFE we mean Learning sound doctrine, Intimacy with Jesus, Fellowship with the saints, and Equipping for Eternity.

By preaching repentance and faith in Jesus and forming a church family committed to doing LIFE together, we will establish a healthy church that will shine brightly for generations.

Pray

Pray Kacie and I will continue to grow closer to one another and parent well. Pray that our relationship with Capitol Hill Baptist Church will continue to be rich, deep and familial as they prepare to send us. Pray ECC will become healthy and will faithfully work to plant in other communities, too. Pray the Lord brings elders who can help me shepherd the church. Pray that we will build a deeply unified core team of 70 people by the time we covenant together. Pray that I will keep watch over my life and doctrine for in doing so, I will save myself and my hearers. Pray for stamina and longevity for ministry amidst attacks from the enemy. Pray for provision.
