About My Family

My wife, Ayla, and I were married in 2013 and reached our 10-year anniversary a few months ago! She grew up near Memphis, Tenn., and as a military brat I moved around a lot and basically lived everywhere. We met in 2009 as summer missionaries serving at Appalachian Outreach through Carson-Newman University.

In our free time, we like to eat sushi, play retro N64 video games, read books out loud together, and take nice mid-afternoon naps. Alas, we often wish the practice of making pre-schoolers nap would be applied to adults everywhere.

About My Ministry

I serve as a Baptist collegiate missionary (BCM) at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), the flagship institution of the University System of Maryland located minutes from the Capitol. Thousands of people from all over the world visit each year. Our heart at BCM is to help young Christians navigate their walk with Christ in a world that constantly challenges their faith (discipleship) and to see new people place their faith in Jesus (evangelism).

In partnership with local churches, we do this through weekly worship gatherings, prayer meetings, Bible studies, campus evangelism, retreats, fellowship, counseling and community service events.

The harvest is plenty and the workers few! We would love for you to partner with us in spreading the gospel as God does exciting things here at UMD.

Pray

Pray the faith of students would strengthen and not wane during their college years and that they would seek and enjoy meaningful church community. Pray they would be bold in living the life Christ has called them to no matter what the world throws as them. Pray we would have opportunities to be bold witnesses for Christ so members of the university community might come to saving faith in Christ. Pray our students and workers would have confidence in God’s faithfulness. And pray that many local churches would come alongside us in this great work God is doing.

Participate

If you have a loved one attending or about to attend UMD, let them know we’re here! There are many ways to get involved, and an easy first step is to just come on by to meet the students. Join us during worship and Bible studies, or reach out to us to arrange sending care packages for students during mid-terms and finals. We’re always grateful when local churches graciously provide us access to their facilities for retreats and other activities.
